Guys, something I’ve realized lately is that life never fails to throw challenges our way. It’s like taxes…it just happens and there’s nothing we can do to stop it. Why not prep ourselves for those challenges? If we know that challenges will happen why don’t we get better and better at dealing with them before they happen? If we knew that we had a strength lifting competition coming up wouldn’t we work out to be ready? If we were planning to run a marathon, we’d train and research how to succeed. Just because we don’t have an upcoming competition doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be prepping to succeed.
Here’s a way to prep for anything. In my experience, I’ve realized that mental preparation is the most important aspect of preparing. Whether you want to nail a job interview, increase your fitness or have better relationships you need to keep your mind in a constant state of overcoming challenges. Overcoming small challenges reinforces our ability to overcome big ones. It tells your psyche that overcoming a challenge is the only option. What’s my current challenge? Do a handstand for 30 seconds. As you can see in the picture I’m not quite there yet. But that’s okay. I’ll get there and when I do I’ll be more prepared to handle the big stuff. Start with wall hand stands with your hands about 12 inches from the wall.
Don’t bow your back, try to align your spine and move your shoulders forward.
Try pushing into your finger tips. This will take significant forearm strength.
Practice. This is a fine motor skill and it’s more like playing an instrument. 5 minutes a day should do you right.
