Your average entrepreneur is a complex beast. A thick mixture of boldness, grit and creativity, blended together in a stew of elbow grease. We’re here to teach you about developing this entrepreneur mindset in our 10-episode series hosted by Ryan, written by Eric & sponsored by New Man Revolution. Let’s get started on this adventure.

When you are in the flow as an entrepreneur, things usually are going well and you feel like you’re in the zone. Fairly often though, life throws us a curve ball and knocks us off track and into the chaotic wilderness of uncertainty. In this piece of our mastery series, we’ll explore how to re-center after getting knocked down or roadblocked by an obstacle in your business or personal life.

The white space in between your flow states poses its own challenges. You need to master this white space to make you more effective and to get back on the pathway to success more quickly. Unplanned events that you need to solve can spin you for a loop and send your state of clarity into a state of fight or flight. Having an efficient solution for dealing with whatever problem you’re facing is going to return you to your optimal working state.

Let’s explore 2 ways to re-center and reclaim that ideal state of entrepreneurship.

1: Have a Strategy

“In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity”
― Sun Tzu, The Art of War

If you get fire thrown at you, you need a way to get back into the fight as soon as possible. Having a strategy to deal with the down times, and having recovery built into your overall plan will lead you past the depression and chaos that comes from getting knocked down or sidetracked by issues.

The best strategists and investors know that there are ups and downs in personal business. Protect your downside so as to minimize what can go wrong and have a recovery method to remotivate yourself to jump back into the fray.

2: Have a North Star

“For success, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue…as the unintended side-effect of one’s personal dedication to a course greater than oneself.”
― Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, Flow

Having a direction or North Star in which you can head is vital. It will help you re-orient yourself after taking a few hits from Life in the boxing ring, and remind you of what’s important when deciding how best to handle situations that arise.

Think of a North Star, or set of principles for your business or life. We came up with 3 foundations for NMR that guide us through the start-up jungle:

1: Build absolute trust between teammates.

This allows us to concentrate on the task at hand, as well as have fun and enjoy ourselves.

2: Empower each other to be entrepreneurs.

We can all make decisions that coincide with our brand objectives.

3: Create remarkable customer experiences.

Give our NMR tribe members something different to enjoy from any other service/product out there.

When your North Star elements are shining and apparent in your business, things will start working and gelling together. Only then will you see the results that you’re seeking.
